It was a night to remember on the 29th of July, where medical students and doctors got together to savour delicious hometown dishes at Old Raffles Place in Collingwood. There is always something about being Singaporean that brings conversation to the dinner table, and it was a delightful evening for all who attended.

It was a good opportunity for students to talk to Singaporeans working in Melbourne and to medical students from other universities as well. New friends were made, much small talk was exchanged and tummies were all definitely satisfied.

Everyone had a good time out, and we ended the night on a relaxed and happy note.

Thinking of returning to Singapore to work upon graduation but worried about the new Residency programme?
The NUS YLLSoM Medical society will be organising the yearly event (since Residency Program began in 2010), giving all students the opportunity to find out more about the various offerings and clarify their doubts directly with the sponsoring institutions. Our focus here will be answering pertinent questions that are close to heart and dispelling all the myths regarding Residency, so that everyone can make informed decisions about our future.
NUS YLLSoM Medical society will be holding a series of talks for the month of JULY, conducted by the Ministry of Health and individual Sponsoring Institutes (SI). There will be opportunities to listen to their introduction for different specialities and also booth time in which personal questions can be asked directly to the Programme Directors.
The order of the talks will be as follows:
MOH – 9th July 2011 – LT28, NUS
NHG-APHL: National Healthcare Group(TTSH, IMH, National Skin Centre) & Alexandra Health (JGH) -16th July 2011 – Ren Ci Community Hospital
NUHS: National UniversityHealthcare System (NUH, National University Cancer Institute, National University Heart Centre) – 23rd July 2011 – NUHS Tower Block
Singhealth(SGH, KKH, National Cancer/Dental/Heart/NNI/Eye Centre) – 30th July 2011 – SGH block 1
Because some of the hospitals are offering limited seats for their talks, we will need online registration for the event to avoid over-crowding!
Priority will be given to the senior years of medical students and it will be based in a first come first served basis!
Please visit http://careersymposium.tumblr.com/ to register by 30th June 2011 if interested to attend.
For those of us in Australia who are unable to return to Singapore for the talks, please submit any questions you want answered through the following form.
