SMSV and the existing medical students in Melbourne would like to extend a warm welcome to all 1st year medical students in Melbourne by organizing a mingling and potluck session!
You will be meeting most if not all of your year 2 seniors and other seniors from other levels. It will be a great sharing experience since you should have some rough ideas on the study and life in Melbourne.
And this is the best chance to show off your culinary skill by bringing dishes and share with all of us.
We’ll also be talking about VESPA ( or Senior Junior Study Group)! There will also be an Q&A session with Ling Ling, our senior, who is a recent Monash graduate.
It will be an amazing night!
See you there!

There was a buzz of excitement in the air as the first years-to-be met the seniors from the medicine faculty of Monash University. It was a reminder of how we all started out, with the seniors always there to give us an idea of what to expect. For 2011, we started off with refreshments and had time to chat to get to know our future colleagues better. After which, the seniors shared their experiences in a foreign country and “survival tips”. We also had a special guest, Nathaniel who has graduated from Monash University and is working at Tan Tock Seng Hospital as a Medical Officer. He shared his experience of studying in Monash and coming back to work, and it was indeed an insightful opportunity for all of us to hear from him.
In essence, it was a good night of fun and information sharing that the fresher’s all found useful and informative. It was a good start to the beginning of their course in 2011, and a satisfying start to our new years as well.
We wish them the best in their current year, and we look forward to seeing them again at our next gathering in Melbourne!
